Alcaraz ends De Minaur’s AO campaign

Alex De Minaur’s Australian Open run was ended by No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz in their quarter-final match on Tuesday night.

Alcaraz won in straight sets at Rod Laver Arena, with the scoreline 7-5, 6-2, 6-1 (ABC).

De Minaur has reached seven of the past nine quarter-finals at grand slam tournaments, but is yet to crack a semi-final (Fox Sports).

At a press conference after the match, De Minaur said: “I’ve been playing at an incredibly high level. It’s just you come up against someone like Carlos in the night time and it’s tough to find the right answers when you are playing against him” (Nine).

There are now no Australian players left in the tournament’s open singles divisions (AO).
